A Mechanical and Chemical Cleaning Solution for the Plastic Processing Industry
d2p® Purge formulation is a competitive choice for general purpose purging applications providing quick cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing of injection, extrusion machinery and blow molding equipment.
There are two types of commercial purging agents, mechanical and chemical.
- Mechanical/physical Purges typically used in injection molding, use abrasive or high-viscosity plastics to scour other materials from screws, barrels and dies. A mechanical purge is a flush, designed to break down and displace residual plastic.
- Chemical purges, by contrast break down the polymer residue chemically in the machine, reducing the molecular weight and viscosity so it can be flushed out easily. Chemical purges require residency time inside the machine to soften and loosen any hard carbon deposits, giving a greater degree of cleaning than mechanical purges. The process requires strict procedures for measuring, blending and soaking.
- Chemical purges contain heat-activated foaming pellets added to the mechanical purge products for cleaning hard-to-reach stagnant flow areas
- Available in convenient pre-mixed form, concentrates, and custom blends.
- Concentrates can be mixed at your location with your polyolefin resin in a ratio up to 8:1.
