SHARE FRAUD WARNING
If you receive an unsolicited call, letter or e-mail relating to Symphony from an organisation which may give you either:
- An opportunity to buy “up and coming” stock at a discounted price; or
- An offer to buy shares in which you have an existing share (which can be seen from the company’s public register of members) at a significant premium, provided you pay an advanced “Insurance Bond” or “Administration Charge” or similar.
We suggest you contact your financial advisor to first discuss whether the communication is genuine or a potential scam. It would be sensible to check, even if the name of the organisation is one you may be familiar with as fraudsters sometimes use the name of a well-known organisation to give a false sense of security.
You can find more information from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on its website –www.fca.org/consumers/scams about these kinds of approaches. The FCA website also has a facility that allows you to report details of this kind. By reporting the incident it helps the FCA to make further investigations into share scams.
You can also call the Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768.
If you have already paid money to share fraudsters you should contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
